Brewing news Canada: Minimum selling price of beer is too much below in Quebec

According to the Brewers association, the minimum selling price fixed by law favours the consumers, but harms the wholesalers and small shopkeepers, Webfin Argent informed July 04.

It is because the production costs of the brewers augmented more quickly than minimum price which is presently CA$21.90 for a case of 24 bottles at present. Accordingly, the result is that the distance between minimum price and wholesale price is shrinking and it’s becoming more difficult to make profits.

In order to outstand to these “perversions” generated by the minimum price, the brewers suggest to re-evaluate the minimum price according to another index of Canada Statistics, namely the Index of domestic prices of beer.

They suggest upgrading it to CA$23.70
