Denmark: A 4-year research project to develop hops for beer production
The Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences (Danmarks JordbrugsForskning) is conducting a four-year research project to develop hops plants that can be used for beer production, Berlingske Tidende posted on 02 May 2006.
Danish breweries are large importers of hops for beer brewing. The project involves in the same time the Royal Agricultural University which examines the resistance of the plants to diseases. Among the same project partners, Jacobsen micro brewery, owned by Carlsbergs, contributes to the research project by providing analyses on the plants deriving flavours.
