India: Asia Pacific Breweries in talks with Mount Shivalik
Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd. is in talks to buy a 50% stake in Mount Shivalik's brewing business, the Economic Times reported Friday May 05, citing sources.
Mount Shivalik, which makes the Thuderbolt Strong Beer, has breweries in the north Indian states of Rajasthan and Punjab. "There is nothing to talk (about) right now," said Manish Bali, group director of Mount Shivalik, according to the report.
Earlier this week Asia Pacific Breweries acquired a 76% stake in Aurangabad Breweries Ltd. for $18 million.
Heineken N.V. has a stake of about 42% in Singapore-listed APB Ltd.
