Ukraine: From the beginning of the year beer prices increased by 7-10%
Ukrainian brewing companies raised the prices for beer by 7-10% in the first quarter this year.
The rise was attributed to the energy resources price increase.
According to the general director of ZAO Ukrpivo, the most influence on the cost of beer had the higher prices of the main component of beer, malt, production of which demands many energy resources. Moreover, the rise of gas prices caused the increase of bottle cost. One bottle costs now 0.6 UAH (0.12 US$) compared to earlier prices of 0.45-0.5 UAH (0.09 US$).
According to Ukrpivo, if the energy resources prices continue to grow the beer price might rise as well.
In the first quarter of 2006 Ukrainian brewers produced 4.39 million hl of beer against 4.01 million hl in the first quarter of 2005, Ukrpivo revealed.
