Uganda: Uganda Breweries has unveiled a new brand of beer called White Cap Light
Uganda Breweries Limited announced it has unveiled a new brand of beer called White Cap Light Beer, according to Daily Monitor. Speaking during the launch at Kabira County Club, on March 31, the Marketing Manager Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), Ms Suzanne Mpanja, said the brand was introduced to satisfy the changing demand and habits of Ugandan beer consumers.
"White Cap Larger was designed for people who enjoy a refreshing and distinctive taste of a light beer and yet they want to keep in control," she said, adding that the brand encourages a healthy and balanced lifestyle because of its calorie and low carbon.
The Brand Manager White Cap Light, Ms Julian Mukasa, said the beer follows a research conducted among consumers, which indicated there was a growing need for a light brand. White Cap Light will be availed in 300ml amber bottles similar to those of Tusker Malt Lager, at 3 percent alcohol content. Mukasa said the retail price for the brand will be Shs1,600.
The brand, the first of its kind in Uganda, will be imported from the East African Breweries in Kenya and sold in several urban towns starting with Kampala. The introduction of White Cap Light brings to five, the number of alcoholic beers UBL produces. The others include Bell Larger, Pilsner Lager, Tusker Malt Lager and Guinness.
