Barley news Australia: ABB Grain opens new fertiliser facilities on the EP

ABB Grain is inviting growers to the commissioning of its new Eyre Peninsula fertiliser handling equipment at Streaky Bay and Port Lincoln, the company announced on March 27.

Grain growers are invited to celebrate the opening of the improved Streaky Bay Storage Shed on Tuesday April 4 from 6pm and the new high speed fertiliser loading and blending plant at Port Lincoln on Wednesday April 5 at 5pm.

ABB Grain’s recently appointed Eyre Peninsula field officer Steve Whillas, who will have a strong focus on fertiliser, said the investment in the new and improved storage and handling equipment was an indication of ABB’s commitment to expanding its fertiliser infrastructure on the Eyre Peninsula.

“The openings will give growers the opportunity to see the new equipment first hand before the plants and equipment get into full swing,” Mr Whillas said.

“Growers can also see the latest Ausi Gold (MAP/DAP) product range from Southern Cross Fertiliser, and discuss the application of ‘Intake Infurro’ for various crop disease prevention.”

Steve Whillas and Roger Laube will be available at both openings to discuss fertiliser needs with growers. Other ABB fertiliser staff and Southern Cross Fertiliser representatives will also be on hand to answer any questions from growers.

“ABB is leading the way for fertiliser infrastructure advancements on the Eyre Peninsula with the introduction of high speed computer controlled equipment at the Port Lincoln shed and the Streaky Bay shed modifications will lead to increased turnaround,” Mr Whillas said.

A barbecue dinner and drinks will be provided and all growers are welcome to attend.
