Sweden: Svalöf-Weibull will stop breeding new varieties of malting barley
Svalöf-Weibull breeding station in the south of Sweden with branches in Canada, France and England will stop breeding new varieties of malting barley, rye and winter wheat, H. Abildstrøm & Co. ApS communicated on March 23.
Breeding of spring wheat, rapeseed, oats, triticale, feed barley and potatoes will continue. Uncertainty exists whether the Cereallaboratoriet will be affected. 55 persons will leave the company which is owned by the Svenska Lantmannen Group.
