Barley news Australia: New management appointments at ABB Grain

Leading Australian agribusiness, ABB Grain Ltd, announced on February 15 two new appointments to its management structure.

ABB’s managing director, Michael Iwaniw, said Andrew Gee had been appointed as chief operating officer for ABB’s malting division, Joe White Maltings.

“Andrew’s role will take in daily leadership of Joe White Maltings, besides management of the strategic direction of this extremely important division of our organisation,” Mr Iwaniw said. “Also, Bill Gill has accepted the new position of business development advisor, in our corporate planning and business development department.

“Bill, who has previously been managing director of Joe White Maltings and has considerable industry experience, will work on a part-time basis, supporting the strategic direction of ABB, in particular JWM, ProGrain and ABB Fertilisers. He will also be engaged in specific projects that will add value to the organisation.”

Mr Iwaniw said the appointments represented a prime opportunity to use the substantial experience and knowledge of two senior staff: “I’m particularly pleased that Bill will continue to provide his experience to the company.”

“Joe White Maltings is in great shape and the division is providing tangible benefits to the increasing success of ABB Grain,” Mr Gill said.

Mr Gee was delighted by the full suite of challenges he now had as head of Joe White Maltings.

“Our division delivered a solid profit during 2004/2005 due to the synergies gained through the integration of the ABB businesses and cost containment. I look forward to building on that in the years ahead, as we continue to meet the demands of our international and domestic customers,” he said.
