Brewing news Germany: Huppmann upgrades lauter tuns up to maximum performance

Huppmann AG, one of the market leaders in the manufacture of brewery equipment, announced on February 9 that overall brewhouse yield improvements of 1.5 – 2 percent-points on average are achieved by the Lauterstar power upgrades offered by Huppmann AG, Kitzingen. These are results of a total of 29 retrofits at major breweries, including Anheuser-Busch and SABMiller in North America, which were carried out over the past 4 years. The retrofits include bottom-entry mash pumping into the lauter tun, replacement of the raking systems to the Huppmann-characteristic double-shoe knife, optimization of the run-off geometry and implementation of Huppmann-specific technology often with intelligent control based on the multi-functional lautering management system(MLM).

In addition to yield improvements, increases in capacity are also a resultant benefit of a retrofit: With such optimized lautering systems up to 15 brews a day are possible; specific loadings of up to 300 kg/m² are common. Some of these upgrade investments have “paid off” already in as little as 6 months.

Huppmann AG is one of the market leaders in the manufacture of brewery equipment. More than 80 brewhouse plants that have been set up since the year 2000 impressively prove our expertise in the construction of new breweries and the extension of existing facilities. We provide products and services for all areas of a brewery: hot and cold process area, process control system, refrigeration technology and CO2-recovery.
