Russia: Heineken plans to control up to 15% of the Russian beer market in 2006
Heineken is planning to capture about 13-15% of the Russian beer market, Victor Pyatko, the vice president of the company told Interfax on February 8. According to Russian Beer Union in 2004 Heineken controlled 8.5% of the Russian beer market.
Heineken started its activity in Russia in 2002, when it acquired St. Petersburg-based Bravo for USD 400 million. In 2004 Heineken became the owner of Sobol Beer (Novosibirsk) and Tsepko Company, which controlled Shihan and Volga breweries. In 2005 Heineken purchased OAO Patra, AO Stepan Razin and Ivan Taranov Breweries.
