UK: Scottish & Newcastle appointed Philip Bowman as non-executive director

Scottish & Newcastle plc announced on January 10 the appointment of Philip Bowman as non-executive director. Mr Bowman (53) is former chief executive of Allied Domecq, and also has extensive international experience with Bass/Six Continents.

Sir Brian Stewart, S&N chairman, said: “Philip Bowman brings with him a wealth of international experience in the drinks industry, together with an intimate knowledge of both the brewing and pubs business.

“I know that he will make a strong contribution to the S&N team and I look forward to working with him.”

Note:
Philip Bowman, aged 53, Australian. Present position: senior independent director, Burberry Group plc. Chief executive of Allied Domecq until July 2005, previously group finance director from December 1998 to July 1999.

From 1985 to 1995 he was with Bass/Six Continents, including chief financial officer, then chairman and chief executive of Bass Taverns.

Formerly chairman of Liberty plc, chairman of Coral Eurobet, and non-executive director of BSkyB.
