Brewing news USA: Appointed new Director of American Homebrewers Association (AHA)

The Brewers Association announced on January 3 the promotion of Gary Glass from project coordinator to the position of American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Director. This change in structure will allow Paul Gatza who led both the Brewers Association’s professional and amateur (AHA) divisions for four years to focus solely on the operations of the professional division of the Brewers Association.

“I want to commend and recognize Paul for all of the effort, energy and vision he put toward the AHA,” remarked Bob Pease, vice president of the Brewers Association. Glass’ work as project coordinator for the Brewers Association earned him the respect and confidence of his peers. He has been recognized for his work over the past six years during which he built the National Homebrew Competition into the world’s largest beer competition, grew participation in the AHA’s National Homebrew Day and Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day and coordinated membership programs that helped to grow the AHA membership roster to more than 9,000 members.

Filling out Glass’ department will be Kate Porter, promoted to AHA Membership Coordinator. The AHA Membership Coordinator is a new position that is charged with the sole mission of building AHA membership.

Taking over as AHA Project Coordinator will be Janis Gross, a homebrewer and lifetime AHA member. Gross has extensive experience with homebrew competitions and has attended several AHA National Homebrewers Conferences.

Based in Boulder, Colo., U.S.A., the Brewers Association (BA) is a not-for-profit trade and educational association for small, traditional and independent craft brewers whose purpose is to promote and protect American craft beer and American craft brewers and the community of brewing enthusiasts. Visit the website: www.beertown.org to learn more. The Brewers Association has an additional membership division of 9,000+ homebrewers: American Homebrewers Association.
