South Africa: The latest figures for country barley crop and imports
South Africa harvested a very good barley crop. At the end of the old crop year the country imported 2 cargoes of Canadian and one cargo of Danish barley. For the new year SAB will only apply for import licences for 50,000 tonnes.
South Africas imports of malt are forecast by USDA for 2005/2006 at 100,000 metric tonnes compared to 102,000 metric tonnes in 2004/2005 and 69,000 metric tonnes in 2003/2004.
