Mercosur: Mercosur countries will have an even S/D balance of malting barley
Harvesting in Mercosur countries is moving southwards, from Brazil via Uruguay to Argentina. Parts of the region were plagued by dry conditions.
The crop in Parana was just satisfactory, in Rio Grande do Sul it was less good, Uruguay reports perfect yields and qualities, albeit of a smaller acreage than last year. In Argentina the Province of Buenos Aires is the large barley producing area, it looks promising in the North, less so in the South.
The present overall expectation is that the Mercosur countries will have an even S/D balance of malting barley, however, must use their substantial carryover from last crop.
