Ukraine: Estimations on Ukrainian barley crop

The Ukrainian barley crop is estimated at 8.8 million tonnes. Total exports for the grain year are expected to be 3.7 – 4 Mill. tonnes, export shipments from July 1 until November 23 were 1.94 Mill. tonnes.

Shippers have difficulties to secure supplies and fear that export availabilities may be smaller than forecast. Barley seed needs for spring are expected to be 1.2 Mill. tonnes versus only 930,000 tonnes in 2005.

Prices FOB Black Sea ports have moved above US $ 130,- and are approaching levels of EU feed barley.
