Brewing news Belgium: InBev launches its first Global Citizenship Report

InBev, the world's largest brewer by volume, releases its first Global Citizenship Report on http://www.inbev.com/citizenship.

A balanced account of how InBev is doing its business, the Report covers the company's main Corporate Responsibility initiatives, positive contributions, and overall impact on those areas and environments where it operates. The Report also acknowledges specific upcoming challenges for both InBev and the brewing industry, as a whole.

One of these challenges is responsible alcohol consumption, where InBev's firm position is that beer is a beverage to be savored and consumed in moderation. InBev feels it has a responsibility to inform and educate consumers on what it is to drink responsibly, and to show that beer can be part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. The Report also highlights the negative impact of excessive or irresponsible consumption.

Highlights of InBev's Citizenship performance include:
- Increasing water-efficient beer production - up 14.4% since 2002
- Reducing - accident rates since 2002
- Improving energy efficiency of beer production - up 7% since 2002
- Realizing a normalized EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) of 2,112 million euro, up from 1,498 million euro in 2003-

Formed in August 2004, InBev is the world's largest brewer by volume, and has a portfolio of over 200 brands, including Stella Artois(r), BRAHMA(r), and Beck's(r).
