Australia: Coopers makes moves to capture substantial market share in Australian lager market
The Australian Coopers brewery is now hoping to acquire a substantial portion of the Australian lager market.Coopers, Australia's third largest brewer, has launched two new premium lager beers - the Coopers Lager and Coopers Premium Light , as part of a shake-up of its lager portfolio, Asia Pulse announced on November 4.
The new Coopers lagers, which replace the Regency Draught and Regency Light, are already available in SA and will be supplied to interstate markets later.
Glenn Cooper, Coopers chairman and marketing director said on November 4 that he was confident the beers would change drinkers' perceptions about Coopers and lagers.
"Australian drinkers have clearly shown that they have an extremely high opinion of our traditional ales with sales across Australia booming. In the past, that demand has not translated through to our lagers but we believe the new Lager and Premium Light will change that situation." Glenn Cooper stated.
