EU: EU barley intervention stocks at 640,000 tones
The total EU grain crop is 33 Million tones lower than last year. Nevertheless the surplus of last year and limited export markets pose a problem for the Commission and depress domestic price levels.
Intervention stocks are 13.5 Million tones, of which 8 Million tones of wheat, but only 640,000 tones of barley. Intervention stores are open for crop 2005 grains as of November.
