USA: Barley harvest coming to end in Montana
Montana farmers have continued harvesting their barley at a faster pace than last year,. The Montana field office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service said the barley harvest, at 95 % finished, was slightly ahead of last year, Associated Press reported on September 19.
Soil-moisture conditions were relatively comparable to the previous week. Topsoil moisture was rated by the agency as 75 % short to very short, 24 % adequate and 1 % surplus, while subsoil moisture was rated 79 % short to very short, 20 % adequate and 1 % surplus.
