Malting news Germany: Künzel is purchasing Hauner malting plant business

German company, Künzel Maschinenbau of Mainleus, is completing the acquisition of Hauner malting business belonging to the assets of the insolvent Rudolf Ohlmann GmbH based in Markt Bibart. Thus Künzel Maschinenbau of Mainleus is returning to its former activity of malting plant. Since 2000 the company has specialised in milling and malt handling and storage equipment for the brewery.

Ohlmann’s former managing director, Günther Ruoff, is to head the new product group. Künzel mentioned that Hauner malting plants have a good reputation for their solid technology and the special rotating kiln floor system.

“There are many technical parallels between malting and milling plants: silos, transport systems, cleaning plants, dust-removal devices as well as weighing and measuring systems. Therefore many synergies can be used through the new acquisition,” Künzel said.

“Activities will at first concentrate on service to the former Hauner/Ohlmann customers, including the supply of spare parts, maintenance, repair and plant extensions. The design and construction of complete malting plants will follow.”

Recently, Hauner completed the second 24,500 tonnes plant at Stamag Vienna, a subsidiary of Ireks. Other recently-completed contracts include plants at Tivoli in Hamburg, Malzfabrik Rheinpfalz in Pfungstadt and Schill in Rheindürkheim.
