David Poulson from the Department of Primary Industries said researches are continuing into whether the variety can be used in beer production. "A malting quality barley, it's all about the actual quality of the barley so the maltsters and the brewers, essentially what they want is a variety that's going to give them a really nice, consistent beer coming out of the end of the brewing process."
