Lithuania: Overview on 2005 barley harvest
Barley sowing in Lithuania was completed around two weeks later than normal, but the ensuing Summer was quite favourable for plant development and harvesting started end of July. Due to heavy rainfalls in the second week of August, harvest work was delayed, according to a report of Viking Malt.
On the other hand official statistics show that malting barley was sown on 54 500 Ha this year.Tested pre-samples, representing around 15,000 tons shows protein content slightly lower than 11%, normal screening and normal germination capacity.
