News from e-malt UK: The smallest brewery in the world: Guinness World Record

A mid Wales brewery has reclaimed its status as the smallest in the world, months after it reopened, BBC published on July 27. Less than 5ft square and formerly an outside toilet, Guinness World Records could feature Bragdy Gwynant in its 2006 book.

The tiny alehouse brews for just one customer - the Tynllidiart Arms next door in Capel Bangor, near Aberystwyth. It was first recognised as the world's smallest a few years ago, but lost its place in the record book when it shut.

Guinness World Records has sent a letter and a certificate to the pub's owners notifying them of their record.

It takes 14 days to produce 9 gallons (34 l) of its Cwrw Gwynant ale. The brewery went back into production after a two-year break last year.

Margaret Phillips, who owns both the brewery and the Tynllidiart Arms, said "We are delighted that we have received this award for the smallest commercial brewery in the world. "People travel from miles around to experience the taste of the ale, as well as the kudos associated with drinking from the world's smallest brewery.

"It also goes down extremely well with our local customers." Mrs Phillips said the brewery once claimed a place in the record books but lost its place when its closed three years ago.
