Slavutsk Malting Plant based in Hmelnitsk, the biggest malt producer of Ukraine, has sold 65 078 tons of malt during 2002 year, a 16% rise in comparison to 2001 year, Baltic Beverages Holding (BBH) representative in Ukraine, the owner of the plant, has reported. Only in December 2002 the plant sold 3 317 tons of malt 58% more than in December 2001.
Apart from the fact that it provides with raw material the enterprises of BBH; Slavutsk Malting Plant deliver its production to Sun Interbrew Ukraine enterprises, Obloni, a beer maker based in Kiev etc. In 2003 the company aims to increase both its internal sales and export of production. Now the company is carrying on negotiations to deliver its malt to Russia and China.
Besides Slavutsk malting Plant BBH in Ukraine owns the Livov brewery (99.81%) and Slavutich brewery based in Zaporojsk (81%).
The analysts estimated that the brewing branch of Ukraine needs around 120 thousand tons of malt per year.
