News from e-malt USA: Granite City Food & Brewery to open in Olathe, Kansas

Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. announced on June 10 it plans to open a Granite City Food & Brewery(R) in the Kansas City suburb of Olathe, Kansas. The company announced it is on track to successfully complete its 4-6-8 development plan which calls for the following opening schedule: 2005 - 4 restaurants; 2006 - 6 restaurants; 2007 - 8 restaurants.

"We are very excited for the opening of the second of three restaurants in Kansas City this year," said Steve Wagenheim, Granite City Food & Brewery's President and CEO. "This will go a long way toward branding our concept in the Kansas City metropolitan area. We anticipate a fourth quarter opening in Olathe. In October, we plan to open our first restaurant in Kansas City at Zona Rosa, a north Kansas City lifestyle center."

Wagenheim said, "We have closed on or identified our next ten locations. We are very excited that we have completed our site selection for 2005 and 2006. All of our future locations are excellent high volume opportunities."

Wagenheim said the company's developer is currently negotiating on additional sites in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota for continued expansion.

Granite City Food & Brewery Ltd. currently operates eight Granite City Food & Brewery casual dining restaurants featuring made-from-scratch food and handcrafted beers. Its broad menu offers traditional and regional foods served in generous portions at reasonable prices, affording guests an excellent value and great dining experience. Its first Granite City location, in St. Cloud, MN, opened in June 1999. Subsequently, the Company opened restaurants in Sioux Falls, SD, Fargo, ND, West Des Moines, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Davenport, IA, Lincoln, NE, and Minneapolis, MN.
