Dominican Republic: AmBev is progressing in building its brewing plant

AmBev Dominicana has recently announced that the construction of its brewing plant in Dominican Republic is progressing and that according to the original plan the production at the new brewery is to be launched in the second semester of 2005. The commercialisation of the beer produced is to be started in September 2005.

Currently AmBev Dominicana employs in the country up to 1,700 people directly and 6,000 indirectly in production, sale and distribution of beverages. The company plans to increase these figures up to 2,150 direct employees and to 7,200 indirect ones during the 2005, to be involved in their Dominican Republic operations.

AmBev, based in Brazil, is one of the largest beer breweries of the world and the largest beverage company in Latin America, the company’s executives commented. AmBev operates today in 32 countries and sells its brands in the United States, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, England, Russia, Korea, Poland, Belgium among other so many. It operates about 70 factories around the world and has a total production capacity of about 190 million hl of beer per year. Within its operations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, AmBev brews about 17 million hl of beer per annum.
