News from e-malt Russia: Baltika appointed Anton Artemiev as company’s President

Russia’s brewing force, Baltika JSC, announced on May 11 that the Supervisory Board of Baltika JSC has confirmed Mr Anton Artemiev as the President of the company.

Mr Artemiev has been working as the acting President at Baltika since January 1, 2005. He was appointed to that position in mid-December as Mr Taimuraz Bolloev announced of his decision to leave the company at the year-end. The Board of Baltika then declared that it would make an extensive search and evaluate both external and internal candidates.

Chairman of the Board, Mr Christian Ramm-Schmidt comments: “Due to the importance of this position we wanted to be absolutely sure that we have the best possible candidate in place. After an intensive international search, we were very happy to notify that we already had that person in place, and therefore it is a great pleasure for me to announce that the Board of Baltika has unanimously decided to nominate Mr Artemiev to the post of the President of Baltika.”

Artemiev, 44, is a Russian citizen, but has broad international experience. He graduated from St. Petersburg State University, made a PhD in geography and continued post-graduate studies with Bocconi University in Italy and Henley Management College in UK.

Prior to the appointment to Baltika, Mr Artemiev worked as the Executive Vice-President of Baltic Beverages Holding AB (BBH), which is the leading brewing group in Russia, but also in the Baltic States, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. In 1992-2000 he was the Head for the Russian operations at Bossard Consultants (later - Gemini Consulting). Before that he worked as the Dean of the International Management Institute in St. Petersburg (IMISP). The new President became a Board member of Baltika in 2001, and was involved with Baltika and BBH already during the years of his consulting career.

The new President commented: “Baltika is the flagship of the Russian food and beverages industry, a company that is highly valued also internationally. We can all be proud of its achievements. The nomination to steer this ship is a great honour for me. I will continue to develop Baltika as a company with high standards, sound values and an ambition to serve the consumers brands they love to drink, and we love to make.”
