UK: AB InBev opens its second de-alcoholisation unit in Europe
AB InBevs UK business division has opened the groups second de-alcoholisation unit in Europe to increase the production capacity of its alcohol-free beers, Global Drinks Intel reported on December 8.
Budweiser Brewing Group has invested US$3.9m in the Magor brewery in south Wales, which will now produce brands including Stella Artois 0.0 and Corona Cero domestically. The move marks the companys first UK-based site for removing the alcohol content from beer.
The facility uses technology designed to retain flavour and aroma by avoiding extended exposure to heat. BBG said the upgrade positions Magor as a long-term hub for innovation in the alcohol-free space, having previously brewed the full-strength versions of Stella Artois and Corona, as well as Budweiser.
Our investment in a new dealcoholisation facility marks a significant step forward in our UK operations, said AB InBevs regional president, Brian Perkins. It enables us to strengthen our manufacturing footprint in Wales, build our local supply chain, and demonstrates our commitment to delivering products that support consumer choice and moderation.
Late last week, AB InBev agreed to buy a majority stake in Beatbox Beverages, the Texas-based malt- and wine-based RTD brand.
