Romania: Heineken to complete EUR11 mln investment at its Craiova and Ungheni breweries
Heineken has invested 100 million euros over the past ten years in its three breweries in Romania, located in Craiova, Miercurea Ciuc and Ungheni, The Diplomat reported on November 11.
The Dutch company is preparing to complete a 11 million euros investment aimed at installing heat pumps at its Craiova and Ungheni breweries. The project is expected to be finalized in December, with 2 million euros of the financing secured through non-refundable EU funds.
Heineken celebrated 55 years since the establishment of the Craiova brewery. The facility in Dolj County was acquired by Heineken in 2003, and investments made there over the last decade total between 3035 million euros. The Craiova brewery currently employs around 170 people, a number that increases to approximately 240 during the summer season.
Heineken has been present in Romania since 2003, offering a diverse portfolio of local and international beer and cider brands, most of which are produced at its three domestic breweries in Craiova, Ungheni and Miercurea Ciuc.
