USA, VA: Brew Republic Bierwerks announcing last call after almost nine years in business
Brew Republic Bierwerks is announcing last call after almost nine years in business, MSN reported on July 7.
The brewery at 15201 Potomac Town Place, Woodbridge, announced via Facebook it will be closing its doors for good at the end of the month.
Representatives said the closure is due to its lease being terminated by Kimco Realty, which acquired the property at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center in 2023.
"
given the high costs of relocating and the distressed nature of the brewery and restaurant industries, we've decided that it's best to shut down and close," the Facebook post stated. "
We had hopes that we'd have a strong and productive relationship with the new center owner, but this new landlord quickly proved to be far more difficult to work with, and far less welcoming of our business."
Kimco Realty declined to comment. The company purchased the shopping center from JBG Smith Properties for $172.5 million in 2023, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Brew Republic was co-founded by former state Del. Jeffrey Frederick.
To celebrate its tenure, the pub is hosting a weekend's worth of "closing party" festivities from July 25-27, with July 27 being the last day the spot will be open to the public.
On July 25, the brewery will have its final karaoke night. The following day, Mixed Greens will perform, and on the brewery's final day open, musician Nick Coons will play a set.
"He's been with us from the beginning, so we're stoked that he's going to help us close things up," the Facebook post said.
There will also be specials on food and drinks on the final weekend.
