USA, PA: Burghers Brewing Co. to open flagship location in Millvale
After more than a year of work, Burghers Brewing Co. is poised to open next week what co-owner Neil Glausier calls a stainless steel cathedral as its flagship location in Millvale, TribLIVE.com.
The brewery, located at 400 Grant Ave., will take over as the primary brewing location for the local beer and burger chain. The newest Burghers follows locations in Zelienople, Pittsburghs South Side and one less than 2 miles away in Lawrenceville.
At 14,000 square feet, the new brewery will feature two floors with two bars, Glausier said. That is in addition to its public-facing brewing equipment and space for bar games such as pinball, he said. Since it sits in the location of a former bank, Glausier said some patrons can dine and drink in what used to be its vault.
But in the vault or not, customers who walk through its revolving door should expect the same food and beer as other Burghers locations, Glausier said.
Its an aesthetic and visual masterpiece, Glausier said. Im ready to blow everybody away.
But even getting it open is massive, according to Fiore Moletz, the brewerys other owner.
The new space is what the two owners have been working toward for years, he said. In addition to its new role as the primary brewing location, Moletz said the Millvale location also will serve as the Burghers mothership or corporate headquarters.
The large space finally allows the company to plant its flag, he said.
In Zelienople, the former brewing location for the company, employees now will focus on seltzers, ciders and sparkling water, Glausier said.
Burghers will join Strange Roots Experimental Ales and Grist House Craft Brewery as the latest addition to Millvales craft beer scene. Glausier said he hopes his brewery can be a feather in Millvales cap and make it even more of a beer destination.
The boroughs manager, Eddie Figas, said he is glad to see the large space in Millvales downtown filled, and he said he hopes it can bring its established customer base.
Figas said Burghers not only adds to Millvale but provides yet another stop to the North Hills riverfront brewery crawl with upstream locations such as Etnas CoStar Brewing and Sharpsburgs Dancing Gnome Beer and Hitchhiker Brewing.
It think its going to be a wonderful addition (to Millvale), he said.
Moletz said he is continuing to search for staff for the new location, and he asked the public to be patient as the brewery gets on its feet.
But after that, Glausier and Moletz said they will seek to expand further into the region, eyeing Pittsburghs South Hills.
Though the two do not have firm date set for the opening, they confirmed it would occur sometime next week.
