EU: Grain exports drop 30% in 2024/25 so far
From the beginning of the current season (July 1, 2024) to December 15, the EU countries exported 15.5 million tonnes of grain and its processed products, which is 30% less than in the same period last season, UkrAgroConsult reported on December 18.
The largest grain exporter among the EU countries was Romania, which supplied to foreign markets 2.95 mln tonnes of soft wheat, 1.24 mln tonnes of barley and 419.8 thsd tonnes of other grain crops in the period under review.
The main export destinations for soft wheat of European origin in the current season were Nigeria (1.76 mln tonnes), Morocco (999.1 thsd tonnes), Great Britain (852.1 thsd tonnes), Egypt (817.7 thsd tonnes) and Algeria (699.8 thsd tonnes).
Barley was supplied mainly to Saudi Arabia (512.1 thsd tonnes), China (306.1 thsd tonnes), Algeria (262.2 thsd tonnes), Morocco (219.7 thsd tonnes) and Jordan (174.4 thsd tonnes).
