EU & UK: Barley production forecast unchanged at 57.6 mln tonnes
Barley production forecast across the EU27+UK is unchanged at 57.6M tons which is comfortable in light of the current weak demand situation. Looking ahead to crop25, conditions remain mostly positive, with normal to slightly warmer temperatures, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
Russias crop is up 0.1 mln tonnes to 16.9 mln, but the main news is an announced zero export quota for barley on Feb. 15, 2025. EU-27 barley exports remain sluggish, leaving ample barley supplies in Europe.
Winter crops across look better than a year ago, particularly for French 6-row winter barley, and with barley demand remaining low, the supply situation remains very comfortable. The weaker EUR may help exports whenever demand rebounds.
