World: Barley prices decline led by weakness across wider grain complex
Barley price direction in is downward across all regions and for both malting and feed barley. The decline is once again led by weakness across the wider grain complex (e.g. wheat), and the continuing slack economic picture globally, which for beer, was confirmed by beer volumes slipping lower, as confirmed by the recent brewers financial reporting cycle, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
The malting barley price structure globally remains unchanged, with France holding top place, and Australia as the low cost origin, with Canada and Argentina sitting in between. While all prices are lower, RMIs statistical analysis anticipates future shifting of this pricing structure, primarily Argentina becoming more competitive as there is a largely unsold barley crop heading toward harvest. Canada has some quality to work through but likely has malting barley to sell also.
