Brewing news USA, TN: Jackalope Brewing Co. acquired by Tennessee-based investment firm Tacoma and Hoyt LLC

Jackalope Brewing Co., one of Nashville’s key craft breweries, has announced its acquisition by Tennessee-based investment firm Tacoma and Hoyt LLC. Jackalope has been operating in Nashville since its founding in 2011. The acquisition is aimed at fueling further growth and expansion, according to the recent press release, Craft Brewing Business reported on October 10.

“This acquisition is a huge opportunity for Jackalope to expand its reach while staying true to the values that have made us who we are,” said Wright. “I’m excited to focus on growing our sales and bringing our legendary brews to even more people throughout the Southeast.”

Jackalope Brewing was founded by Bailey Spaulding, one of the first female craft brewery founders in the country. Spaulding will continue as chief beer officer. She will focus on brewing innovative and award-winning beers, ensuring that Jackalope maintains its place as a pioneer in the craft beer world.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this next phase of Jackalope’s journey,” said Spaulding. “This acquisition allows me to focus even more on the beer. I look forward to working alongside Steve [Barone] to build on Jackalope’s legacy while continuing to craft beers that our customers love.”

Steve Wright has been with Jackalope since 2010. He will transition from president to chief revenue Officer. He will spearhead the company’s regional sales strategy and expansion into neighboring markets. Steve Barone, CEO of Tacoma and Hoyt LLC, is now CEO of Jackalope Brewing.

“This acquisition is a huge opportunity for Jackalope to expand its reach while staying true to the values that have made us who we are,” said Wright. “I’m excited to focus on growing our sales and bringing our legendary brews to even more people throughout the Southeast.”

Under the new ownership, Jackalope Brewing is poised to expand its operations while staying true to its roots as a community-driven brand. The brewery first opened in Nashville’s Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. It quickly became a local favorite, known for its creative beers and community involvement. In 2013, Jackalope became the first craft brewery in Nashville to can its beer. It has since grown to distribute its products across Tennessee, with plans for further expansion. Jackalope’s commitment to sustainability, creativity and quality remains at the core of its operations. The brewery’s leadership sees the partnership with Tacoma and Hoyt as an opportunity to build on this foundation while reaching a wider audience.

Jackalope’s acquisition highlights the growing trend of craft breweries partnering with investment firms to accelerate growth and capitalize on new opportunities. For breweries, partnerships like this offer access to resources. These can drive expansion, improve distribution networks and fuel product innovation, all while maintaining the core values that made them successful in the first place.

For craft breweries considering similar partnerships, it’s essential to look for firms that understand the brewery’s unique identity and are willing to support long-term growth. Partnerships focused on mutual goals and aligned values can provide the financial backing needed to expand production, explore new markets and introduce new product lines — all while keeping the essence of the brewery intact.

Jackalope Brewing embarks on a new chapter with Tacoma and Hoyt. The continued leadership of Bailey Spaulding and Steve Wright is important. Combined with Tacoma and Hoyt’s strategic backing, the brewery is well-positioned for growth while maintaining the spirit that has made it a favorite in the Nashville craft beer scene.
