North America: Barley crop forecast reduced for both Canada and the US
Barley harvest in Canada has advanced reasonably well, while working around lingering rain. As yields continue to disappoint, RMI Analytics crop estimate is reduced further to 8.0 mln tonnes.
The US barley harvest is now ~90% complete, slightly ahead of the 5-year average, with a result of 3.2 mln tonnes (-0.1 mln from the early September forecast), the analysts said.
Export prices are down for old crop, and flat for crop24 as the trade goes through the quality result (e.g. discounts for light test weights).
Domestic feed barley prices have moved slightly higher, aided by barley harvest closing out and higher corn prices.
