Ukraine: Deputy Director General of UZA (Ukrainian Grain Association) Volodymyr Lapa declared that decrease of import duty for grain and flour would not considerably affect Ukrainian market, AgriMarket.Info posted on March 23.

He explained that only in Russia and Kazakhstan prices for grain may be cheaper than in Ukraine. All these three countries have opened boarders for each other according to Free Trade Treaty. In other European countries grains are notably higher in price. The EU government is unlikely to subsidize grain exports in such a volume, which could be competitive on Ukrainian market.

Analysts of APK-Inform suppose that decrease of import duty will not cause troubles on the local oilseed market. For instance, import oilseed price including 15 percent duty, transport expenses, VAT and other costs may be lower than Ukrainian oilseed prices only in case of deep shortage of oilseeds in Ukraine. But particularly shortage will demand more imports, - affirmed Andriy Pankratov, Chief of Information and Analytical Service of APK-Inform.

The expert assures that there is no risk for Ukrainian producers of crude sunoil. If sunoil prices grow so high that imports from far abroad become possible, then palm oil is much more likely to be imported to Ukraine due to its lower price compared to sunoil, - emphasized Andriy Pankratov.
