EU: Wheat, barley exports decrease since the beginning of 2023/24
According to the European Commission estimates, as of March 23, the exports of soft wheat from the EU countries since the beginning of 2023/24 MY reached 22.8 mln tonnes, down 2% compared to the same period of the previous season (23.2 mln tonnes), UkrAgroConsult reported.
The main suppliers of the grain to the foreign markets are France (6.3 mln tonnes), Romania (5.2 mln tonnes), Poland (2.9 mln tonnes), Germany (2.2 mln tonnes) and Lithuania (2.2 mln tonnes).
In the same period, barley exports decreased by 12% to 4.2 mln tonnes. The key European exporter of the grain in 2023/24 MY is France (2.3 mln tonnes).
At the same time, the exports of corn increased by 57% to more than 3 mln tonnes since the beginning of 2023/24 MY, including 2.2 mln tonnes shipped by Romania.
