World: Barley trade forecast for 2023-24 increased to 28.54 mln tonnes
World barley trade 2023-24 is currently forecast at 28.54 mln tonnes, up from 28.071 in USDAs February report but lower than 30.376 mln tonnes shipped in 2022-23.
Export forecast is up for Australia (6.5 mln tonnes vs 6 mln last month) and down for Canada (2.3 mln vs. 2.4 last month).
China is expected to import 8.7 mln tonnes of barley crop 2023-24 (up from the February forecast of 8.4 mln).
Global barley crop is expected to total 142.224 mln tonnes in 2023-24 (142.782 mln forecast in February, compared to 149.649 mln in 2022-23).
Barley consumption is seen at 143.75 mln tonnes (144.565 mln tonnes in last months report, 148.064 mln in 2022-23) and ending stocks at 18.544 mln tonnes (18.416 and 20.07 mln tonnes, respectively).
