USA, MA: Bright Ideas Brewing opens new taproom and brewery in Westfield

Bright Ideas Brewing opened the doors to a new taproom and brewery in Westfield last weekend, a move that will increase production of its craft brewing fivefold, according to the company’s ownership, MassLive.com reported on October 31.

The brewery’s original location is well known to visitors of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art campus in North Adams since its opening in April 2016. The North Adams location is housed in an old factory building on the campus of the art museum. And it quickly grew in popularity.

Last Saturday, the brewery opened its Westfield location which is designed to showcase a 15-barrel brewhouse built on the taproom floor.

Along with a rotating line-up of food trucks, the taproom offers multiple indoor and outdoor spaces with couch nooks, private event areas, a game room, conference set-ups, and picnic tables.

The Westfield brewery will increase production from 600 barrels to 3,000 barrels per year, according to a press release.

“We are thrilled to open our second brewery and taproom in Westfield, a city with an amazing beer community,” Orion Howard, the owner of Bright Ideas Brewing, said in a statement. “Our team has put a tremendous amount of effort into creating a welcoming space for the Westfield community and local and traveling beer enthusiasts.”

The taproom has an initial selection of eight beers on tap — such as a crisp Kölsh or a rich Shcwarzbier — with more expected to be added in the coming months.

The brewery is located at 109 Apremont Way. Hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.; closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Fridays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Bright Ideas Brewery is the fifth brewery to open in Westfield in recent years, joining Great Awakening Brewing Company, Kismet Brewing Company, Skyline Beer Co., and Tin Bridge Brewing Company.
