World: World hop crop 2023 expected to be at least 5% higher than in 2022
Despite world hop acreage decreased by around 4 %, the International Hop Growers Convention (IHGC) expects world crop 2023 to be at least 5% higher than in 2022. However, this is still disappointing as the total production volume cannot reach the normal level for the second year in a row.
The USA expects an average crop, while crop in Germany and the Czech Republic will be below the average due to the dry and hot weather in June and July.
Although crop expectations in Germany were slightly increased due to plenty of rain in the first half of August, yields and alpha acid will probably not reach the average level.
