World: Barley production forecast reduced to 141 mln tonnes
The global barley production forecast is reduced slightly to 141 mln tonnes, down 0.8 mln from the end of June, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
The forecast for the EU27+UK is reduced slightly, mainly the crops in Spain, Denmark, and Sweden.
Australia continues to look very good but warnings about future growth conditions remain.
Argentina planting is slipping later than ideal but time still exists to get barley seeded in a reasonable time.
Canada remains dry despite some recent rains.
There seems to be a bit of a disconnect as barley supply continues to shrink, and yet prices are steady to lower, the analysts said. Harvest results over the next 2-3 weeks will determine the availability of malting barley selections from crop 2023 and prices will respond accordingly.
