World: Barley production forecast slightly down on increasing worries over Argentine crop
Global barley production forecast is slightly down - at 149.9 mln tonnes due to increasing problems with the Argentine crop situation, RMI Analytics said in their latest report.
Further concern is building in Australia where excessive rainfall on the east coast is adding further negative imports on the crop. The good outlook for the southern hemisphere malting barley supply has turned from promising to being quite problematic.
While the northern hemisphere provided a good overall result with slightly higher selectable malting barley potential (due to crop results in Canada, EU-27 + UK, and Russia), the global balance sheet faces a changing situation with an under-delivery of malting barley from the southern hemisphere.
