Australia: Old barley crop supplies and exports shrinking
Australias old crop barley supplies and exports are shrinking; June shipments were 223,000 tonnes of malting barley (statistics only show 53,000 tonnes as per super strict Australian specifications) and 313,000 tonnes (statistically 483,000) tonnes of feed barley, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their latest report.
Total shipments in October-June were 6.18 mln tonnes of all barley.
The destinations of malting barley were: Mexico with 257 thousand tonnes, Vietnam with 118, Canada with 96, Peru with 68, Ethiopia with 51, Netherlands with 42 thousand tonnes; most likely further quantities although listed as feed barley, e.g. to Japan.
Crop prospects are favourable going into spring, a barley crop of 12 - 13 mln tonnes is considered possible.
