North America: Prospects of barley crop greatly improved by favourable weather conditions
A combination of general rains and slightly above normal temperatures has greatly improved the North American barley crop, RMI Analytics reported in late July.
Although the Canadian crop remains behind normal maturity at this stage (at least a week), the weather is helping advance the crop slightly. Some isolated hail damage is reported.
On the back of improved conditions, RMI Analytics Canadian barley crop estimate rises to 10.2 mln tonnes (9.8 mln tonnes previously). In the US, the estimate remains 3.7 mln tonnes (up from 2.6 mln tonnes).
