Australia: Favourable weather could bring barley crop above 10.885 mln tonnes forecast by ABARES
In its June report, ABARES forecast Australias barley crop at 10.885 mln tonnes in 2022/23 but, in view of the favourable weather conditions in most parts of the country a larger crop than forecast by ABARES seems entirely possible, H. M. Gauger GmbH said earlier this month.
Barley exports were 775 thousand tonnes in April, 4.05 mln tonnes in the crop year October/April, of which 570 thousand tonnes of malting barley.
As Australian quality specs are overly strict, it can be assumed that part of the feed barley exports
was really destined to malt barley buyers, the analysts said.
