World: China beer output up 5.6% last year, Germany, US, Ukraine see sales dip

Chinese beer output in December 2021 totlled 24.0 mln hl, plus 10.9% year-on-year, whereas the January-December volume reached 356.0 mln hl, plus 5.6% year-on-year, H. M. Gauger GmbH reported earlier in February.

German beer sales were 6.5 mln hl in December, plus 0.1% y/y, January-December saw sales of 85.3 mln hl, minus 2.2% y/y. Exports increased by 4.0% in 2021.

Ukrainian beer sales in 2021 totalled 17.0 mln hl, minus 5% y/y. The nation’s malt production of 219 thousand tonnes was down 19.5%.

U.S. domestic beer sales totalled 13.9 mln bbls in December 2021, minus 4.0% y/y, January-December volume was 169.15 mln bbls., minus 0.1% y/y. U.S. beer imports last year totalled 36.5 mln bbls., plus 9.1% y/y, of which from Mexico 27.0 mln bbls., plus 13.0%.
