Brazil, Sao Paulo: Brazilian brewer Schincariol has recently announced that during 2004 it sold 14.3 million hl of beer and had registered a gross revenue of BRL2.55 billion (US$938.8 million). Operating profit was BRL83m, with EBITDA totalling BRL162m. Schincariol sold 16.4% of all beer in Brazil last year, top executive Adriano Schincariol said. However, according to data from AC Nielsen, the brewer had a market share last year of just above 13%. Schincariol blames Nielsen saying that the numbers issued by Nielsen do not accurately reflect the local market because they underestimate beer sales in Brazil's distant and relatively poor northern and north-eastern regions, according to press reports.
