EU & UK: Barley crop prospects favourable in the whole region
Barley crop prospects are favourable in the whole EU-27 as well as in the United Kingdom, H. M. Gauger GmbH analysts reported earlier this month.
Continuous rains, especially in France and Germany, start concerns about the condition of grains, particularly for milling wheat and malting barley.
Barley acreage has shrunk from last year, but production may turn out larger than presently forecast. MARS has increased its June yield estimate from 4.89 to 4.97 tonnes/ha, average for the whole EU.
First harvest results of winter barley in Romania are reported to be excellent.
