USA, TN: Star Spangled Brewing Co. opens new downtown location in Clarksville
Josh Romaker of Star Spangled Brewing Co. wants to take over Tennessees craft beer industry, and he plans to do so from his new downtown location, Clarksville Now reported on March 12.
The new 8,000 square-foot facility is on 614 North Spring St., next to the Humane Society of Montgomery County. It features a taproom and brewery space.
Romaker said that with the new Multi-Purpose Event Center on the way, it is a good time to start a business in downtown Clarksville.
The taproom, which will open summer of this year, will feature 10-12 taps featuring local craft beer in what Romaker described as a 1970s family camping aesthetic.
Beneath the taproom is the new brewery, which has a 20 barrel capacity. There is a barrel aging room, with whiskey barrels from Blantons, Buffalo Trace and Wellers.
The barrel aging process is integral to several of Star Spangled Brewings signature products, including their Winchester Bourbon Ale.
Behind the 10 fermenters is a large mural depicting the American flag, Customs House Museum and the brewerys motto, Lack Fear, Not Beer. Romaker said it was important that the brewery leave an impression on visitors.
Star Spangled Brewing Co. is currently distributing locally, but Romaker says that is only the beginning.
I want to take over Tennessee with Star Spangled Brewing Company. When people come to Clarksville, I want them to know Star Spangled, Romaker said. I have plenty of room in this facility to continue to grow and put Clarksville on the map.
Romaker added that now is an exciting time to be a brewery in the American South, which is still finding its identity in the craft beer world.
Were able to have our own unique style in Tennessee, Romaker said. The south is the last place to grab ahold and take off with a craft beer. I think thats why the South is such a great place for craft beer.
